Signs That You Might Not Have Safe Drinking Water

If you have started to find yourself a little concerned that you might not have the safest drinking water in your home, you might want to have it tested. Of course, some people are worried about wasting their money on such tests if it turns out they were just being a little too cautious. While some people will tell you that there is no such thing as being too cautious regarding the things you put in your body, you can check out the following signs of unsafe drinking water. This way, you will have a better idea regarding what you need to do next.

Blue-Green Stains In Your Sink

When you go to clean your sink, do you notice any stains that appear blue-green in color? If so, then this is a sign that your brass, copper, or other types of metal pipes are starting to corrode and getting into your water supply.

Foamy Water

If the water in your glass appears to be foamy, like there is soap in it, that could very well be the case. Rinse your glass well and then see if you are still getting a glass full of soapy water. If you are, it could be from a backup in the laundry lines. It is important to know that foaming looking water can also be a sign of diluted sewage, which is obviously extremely toxic.

Cloudy Water

Your water should also not be cloudy looking. If it is, it is a clear indication that there is sand, dirt, clay, or some other organic matter in the water line. If organic matter is not the cause for the cloudy water, it could be due to methane gas.

Metallic Taste

If you taste metal when you sip on a glass of water, you will want to stop drinking it. The metallic taste is a clear sign that there is iron or copper corroding in your system and then landing in your drinking water.

Rotten Egg Smell

The smell of rotten eggs is usually an indication of a sewage leak somewhere. You could have a sewage leak somewhere along your lines and that sewage is somewhere seeping into your water lines. Even if it is just a small amount, if it is enough to alter the smell of the water, it is too much.

As you can see, there are many signs to keep an eye out for when you are concerned about making sure that you and your loved ones are always drinking the best possible water. (For more information, contact potable water in Fort McMurray)
